(no subject)
Jun. 16th, 2006 11:13 pmThe Devil Rays put on the most absurd shift I've ever seen this evening. When Ryan Howard came to the plate with nobody on base, they had the shortstop at the second baseman's position, the second baseman playing short right field, and Tomas Perez, the starting third baseman, playing left field. That's right. Three infielders to the one side and four outfielders across, playing really deep. Strike out, ground out to pitcher, bloop single down the right field line.
My mind boggles.
EDIT: I'm still trying to figure out whether the boos were for Manuel or Hamels when the manager came out to pull the pitcher in the fourth. Frankly, I suspect the former.
