For those of you not on wawa_lovers, here's a link. Basically, the furries at Anthrocon, held in dowtown Philly, more or less overran the local Wawa. Just thought I'd share.
Current Music:Sting - Love is the Seventh Wave (head)
We've been slowly training Jamison to crumble every time furries are mentioned, so we have a backup Benitez for when he's not around. It's quite amusing.
Also, it seems like local convenience & food stores would have learned by now to have extra staff & stock on hand when there's a con nearby. I imagine a lot of regular folks were severely inconvenienced by the hordes of hungry congoers.
Local convenience stores in the middle of major cities probably don't pay much attention to cons. When I was at Purdue for the summer (two years ago), I went to a day of GenCon in Indianapolis. At something like 9 PM I went to a burger joint (Steak 'n Shake, I think), which got the double wammy of the con and a marching band competition (Con was in the RCA Center's convention hall, marching bands were on the RCA dome's field). They were very busy, but unphased. A downtown store should be able to handle that kind of load, be it con or business convention.
There was a huge uproar in philadelphia a while ago about people protesting the con... it was nuts and got nasty, then got deleted (also the mod of wawa_lovers also mods philadelphia - I saw she posted on that thread). I don't know, that stuff weirds me out (furries, obviously NOT Wawa!)
