"The absolute truth is that we thought we were copying Veterans Stadium dimensions." - David Montgomery

Yes, and any idiot can see that the walls curved at the Vet and are straight at CBP. I think someone's been taking lessons from Richard Maloney Baloney.

Umm.... if they have just like, you know MEASURED couldn't they tell that they weren't?
What did they copy a number wrong or something?

Idiots. They're just talking about this now? Sigh.

No, it's all spin. If you look in the Inquirer, they've overlayed the two fields. The corners of CBP match up with corresponding points at the Vet. However, CBP has straight walls from point to point, whereas the wall circumscribes all those points at the Vet. So halfway between point A and point B, where the distances are the same, the walls at CBP are closer than they were at the Vet, because the Vet walls curved out. Any idiot can see that this is going to happen - saying "we thought the distances were the same" is just a smokescreen. If they were smart, they'd move the fences back a few feet - this team is going to hit the ball out, but pitching is harder to get, and a big-name free agent pitcher (which this team desperately needs) is more likely to come to a more pitching-friendly park - even 5 feet would go a long way - how many of those home runs land in the flower beds?
