So there's this "top five" meme running around, and, since things here have been slow (both IRL and on this LJ), I'll throw it out to you. Ask me for a top five of something, and I'll give you a top five. No guarantees it's what you're looking for (those of you who can see [livejournal.com profile] sylvansafekeepe's latest post know what I'm talking about). This isn't locked, but I reserve the right to lock it/answer things off LJ if I feel the need. Pass it on.

You know, this is harder than you might thing...

1. Ben Franklin
2. The I-95 bridge over the Susquehanna (or maybe I've just been over it a lot lately)
3. The I-95 bridge over the Potomac
4. The Eads Bridge (over the Mississippi in St. Louis)
5. The mini Brooklyn Bridge in Cincinnati

I'm not sure this list is entirely accurate, but close enough

Ah, and you did in fact respond with physical bridges; I wondered if you might toss in a song bridge.

There's a mini Brooklyn Bridge in Cincinnati? Wacky! There's also a miniature Brooklyn Bridge in Las Vegas. That one creeped me out though, like all of Las Vegas creeped me out.

The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge was built by the Roebling family of engineers as essentially a prototype for the later, larger Brooklyn Bridge, which was somewhat more ill-fated for them personally, (John died as the result of an accident that happened while reviewing blueprints, Washington was unable to continue to oversee work on the bridge after several severe cases of the bends from coming up from the bottom of the East River,) but is of course much better known, because it's not in fscking Cincinnati.

Not bitter. Really. ::looks innocent::

And the Roebling suspension bridge across the Delaware at Riegelsville, 2 miles from my house, is even less well-known. Stop griping.

Oh, oh, let me!

1. They didn't make a move at the trade deadline.
2. The pitching is terrible.
3. They don't have the will to win.
4. They suck.
5. They're the Phillies.

E-A-G-L-E-S!

Oh, you hurt me so.

How about a top five of top fives, in no particular order:

1. Clemens, Pettite, Oswalt, Lidge, Ensburg
2. Cox, CJones, AJones, Hudson, a bunch of rookies
3. Burnett, Delgado, Cabrerra, Pierre, Lowell
4. Wade, Manuel, Giles, Thompson, Montgomery
5. Lieberthal, Cormier, Thome, Perez, Chavez

There's no real way that the Cards will lose the NL Central, so reldnahkram is limiting things to teams that are either in the NL East, or would be heading for the Wild Card. The Cardinals are a non-issue.

The Phils went 4-2 against the Cards, don't play them again this season, and the Cards cannot do anything major to prevent the Phils from getting to the playoffs. I mean, they could lose their remaining games against wild card and NL east teams, but it seems unlikely. I don't think Houston will catch them.
