I had a bizarre dream. There was something wrong with the el. Somehow, they had managed to get a few P42 Genesis diesels into the tunnel. Never mind the gauge issues. Or the fact that they're, you know, diesels operating in a tunnel (although TSOR reveals the existance of dual-mode Geneses that run off third-rail, but I didn't know this at the time). Eventually, a train came that was supposed to take me where I was going, or something. The cars weren't M-4s, I think they were supposed to be the CTA cars they used on the P&W when the Bullets were at the end of their lifetime and the N-5s were late. But again, there's a gauge issue. Also, some of them had signboards and some didn't, like Silverliner IIs and IIIs. So I got where I was going, did what I had to do, then realized that I needed to go back to work (this being the middle of the afternoon) and that I had left all of my stuff someplace else (possibly in the vicinity of 34th St.). So I took Regional Rail to something like 38th st (the details are fuzzy), coming down from the elevated station on a narrow spiraling wrought-iron staircase (like the bell tower, but (thankfully) wider), where at the bottom I got into a brief discussion with someone over HC access, and me saying something to the effect of that the system has been grandfathered until 2009, or something. It was strange.

I didn't sleep late enough, as evidenced by the time at which this post is being made. I was lying in bed, trying to get more sleep, when I was jolted out of fuzzyland by whiiiiirrrrrrrrrrr and then, a few seconds later, whiirr-click-ca-click-rrrrrrr-beep beep.

There's not a more wonderful feeling in the world than knowing that you're going to have to reset all your clocks when you wake up, and that your computers have all just reset themselves. [/sarcasm]

I'm not somebody who reads tech reviews. But Mark's right, clicking that link was very worth it:

"Power

This light informs the user that the X41 is on—-no, really. There should be an ontological indicator next to it to let the user know the computer really exists."
