Musings on the Superbowl

Wow, I was not expecting that to be such a good game. I was expecting the first 20 minutes to be what the whole game was like. But both defenses went soft and it became a shootout. Wonder what would have happened had the Pats made those 2 FGs early - would Carolina have been able to recover.

For all the hype it had gotten ahead of time, the Pepsi-iTunes ad just didn't do it for me. What would be creppy, but kinda cool in an anti-RIAA way would be to parody the CitiBank identity theft commercials, having a grandfather sitting in front of the computer with a 12-year old's voice talking about all the music she's downloading, then have the RIAA come in and bust the grandfather. It might be a little weird and not get the point across, but it'd be cool, I guess.

So over the day I've been thinking about some of the odd things that have happened while I've been watching the super bowl. Like the year Dan mentioned wanting to see all of the cheerleaders on the field at once, and then they all did come out, but dressed like KISS (which he definately didn't want). Also, I think the same year, the debate over whether hunting was a sport. And indecisionwins battling with Erin and Caroline and the other Pats fans in 2002. Ah, good times, good times.

I think the halftime show was better when they got one artist to do the whole thing. The whole six-person collaboration thing doesn't work. I wouldn't mind bringing out someone completely unexpected for a duet at some point (like Gwen Stefani and Sting last year- which was weird but not bad), but make it about one artist. And someone this year reminded me of the awful Indiana Jones one a few years back. You know - they're making jacko's heal the world show look really good, which I guess it was.
