So, because I'm a sucker, I'm sitting through the CBS Johnny Cash, where a whole bunch of big names sing Johnny Cash songs. It doesn't suck as much as it really could. But there are some strange pairings:

Jerry Lee Lewis and Kid Rock doing 'I Walk the Line'
Kris Kristoferson with the Foo Fighers doing 'Sunday Morning Coming Down'

The latter worked pretty well - they really didn't get in each other's way. Kid Rock and JLL, well, JLL was practically stoic behind the keyboard, while Kid Rock was all loosey-goosey.

Kris Kristoferson with Norah Jones worked better ('I Still Miss Someone', I think), and Alison Krauss with Dwight Yoakum doing 'If I Were a Carpenter' just felt natural.

The Jerry Lee Lewis-led everyone on stage finale (Will the Circle Be Unbroken) was painfully under-tempo and overall sucky.

Oh well. Am I actually going to see 'I Walk the Line'. I'm afraid the answer just might be yes. Oh the agony.

I listened to it, because I have no functioing cassette tape player these days, so I often use my TV to play music.

It helped that I recognized most of the music while never having heard of anyone on stage, though.

You didn't miss much. I recognized most of the names, but not the real Nashville-commerical country artists (the ones who did Get Rhythm, for example).

Well, take comfort in the fact that Reese Witherspoon at least will be worth watching.

Yeah, the clips I've seen of the movie are impressive, at least as far as she's concerned.
