Which looks better?

or

This is not a psychological experiment, there is a difference between them. I'm just not going to tell you what it is. Also, should I have the bottoms hemmed, or is the puddling ok?

A. Otherwise it looks torn. I think the puddling looks ok when it's tied back, but not when it's hanging loose.

Also, what is that if not torn?

You can get different width curtains; presumably it's four curtains, rather than two.

That was my initial thought, and I didn't like it, but then your comment confused me. Or something. Figures.

Yes, but each of the four curtains is the same width as the two in (a) — they're much more folded. I would go with (a), and hem them (probably even to about the level of the windowsill, though if you have a particular desire for floor length curtains you could do that, too).

I actually like B better.

I agree. It's more exciting.

Except for the gap/tear on the left, I like it better too, but they do need to be hemmed so they're just off the floor I think. Otherwise, it looks awkward.

With curtains that heavy, you don't want them to drag. But I prefer four panels.

Yes--reduce drag and go with four. The bunching is excellent. You could take [livejournal.com profile] tirerim's suggestion of cutting just at or below window-sill height, but I prefer floor length, and would suggest cutting in line with the top of your baseboard (ie, about three inches off the floor. I wonder if it's helpful to attach the side panels to each other at their joint, just for aesthetics.

The two-panels looks far too flat when close; my preference for four-panels is quite strong.
