Would it be too much to ask to go to an outdoor concert this summer without it raining?

Tried to see the Philly Orchestra tonight at Penn's Landing. But after a very fast-tempoed Marriage of Figaro overture, the first movement of Beethoven VIII was waved off towards the beginning of the recap. There wasn't much more than a light rain, but the forecast was for rain like that for the next hour, and for some silly reason, tradition dictates that the sensitive wooden instruments go in the front, closest to the edge of the roof of the stage. Le sigh.

The sound was very strange, for what little of the concert I heard. Maybe it was the way things were miked (mikes were everywhere), or maybe I'm just not used to hearing an orchestra from the front.

I may take a long lunch on Friday and catch Alexi Murdoch (contemporary folk) at the World Cafe. We'll see how slow things are. At least I won't have to worry about getting wet.
