Pumping it through my stereo via USB, the highest tone I could hear was 16.7 kHz. Via headphones and the sound card built into the motherboard, I could hear up to 21.1 kHz. But I'm definately hearing overtones - I think the compression of the MP3s really messes with the sound - I'd rather do this test with a tone generator, or a WAV file at the very least. Also with better sound output equipment.

In general, ultrasound really bothers me, even if I can't hear it. None of these samples made me feel uncomfortable in the same way.

Ultrasound - is that the same thing as walking into a house and knowing that the TV is on upstairs, even though it's muted?

I don't think that's ultrasound, but it might be.
