The accent meme displays the bars of your friends' results "properly" in Internet Exploder. I'm not advocating this as a solution, since it will still break your friends page if it does so now, or so I'm inclined to guess.

I'm reassured by the large numbers of my friends who seemingly aren't using IE.

Oh, I wondered why everyone was bitching and moaning about a meme that wasn't very different from others. I thought it was just that it's boring to see the same thing over and over again. Now I don't feel so bad about never getting around to redownloading Firefox. If only IE had tabbed browsing though...

The red bars don't appear in FF. However, in general, if your friends page is set up a certain way, the HTML that is copied and pasted to make the display will break your friends page, regardless (I think) of browser (see think_too_much's friends page, for example).

Unfortunately, some people are still not heeding my request to put the damn thing behind a cut tag, so my friends page is still broken. Given that it's also screwing up the ordering of the entries, there appears to be no guarantee that this will ever end.

I always find this kind of thing pretty strange. If person X can do something that breaks the friends page of all person X's friends... isn't that a bug in livejournal itself (even more than it is person X's problem)?
