The cake is a lie
Jan. 27th, 2008 08:52 pmA few days ago, I went looking for a low-fat cake recipe. I found this, which also happened to be vegan. It seemed promising, though I was a bit skeptical. It turned out pretty well, though. I may have overcooked it slightly (and it was way under the time recommended, though the oven may have been a touch above 325) - it was a little rubbery. Whipped cream helped a lot. I might try it again with 1/2 C cocoa instead of 1/3, if not more. The applesauce came through a little bit, but I don't think this was a bad thing. I probably could swap out the cocoa for a little vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg and make it a decent apple cake.
