It's unclear whether it's a phishing scheme or a really poorly constructed real email, but a bit of poking around by folks on Amtrak Unlimited suggests it's the latter (real). Amtrak/AGR have not yet replied either way to senior forum members about it yet.
I'm very skeptical. All of the web addresses are of the form amtrak.bfi0.com and they give an address of 10 G St. NE. Which is near, but not in, Union Station. But it appears that they do employ people at that address, and www.bfi0.com redirects to a perfectly legitimate-looking ad agency. Perfectly competent, less so, it seems.
This is Amtrak we're talking about. I'm disappointed, but not surprised.
They've apparently used bfi0 for marketing emails in the past, for what that's worth. A quick search for [amtrak bfi0] returns hits like this one which seems to be the prevailing analysis.
