Ow. This cut on my middle finger makes it painful to type.

Have been reasonably productive this weekend, after Civ on Saturday. Setup e-mail server on the linux partition and started consolidating e-mail archives into one place. Fill finish this week...maybe. Still need to setup CD burning scripts on the linux partition. I took the crusted marinade off the bottom of my cast iron pan and reseasoned. I never was happy with the old seasoning and the new one seems better, so that's progress. I'll need to keep using it to get it good and black and non-stick, but I'm pretty sure it's better than it was.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up an Asus EEE PC. I'd like to have a laptop, but I really don't see myself needing a laptop for anything more than e-mail, a web browser, IM, and a terminal. And the EEE can do all that for far less $ than anything else of a reasonable size/weight. I'm going to hold out until the new models get announced (and be sure the Latitude E series and Vostro 1200 aren't contenders) before pulling the trigger.

What's your favored seasoning procedure? Mine isn't doing too badly, but I may end up re-doing it at some point.

I've been thinking about an EEEPC too. I'm getting an XO (eventually, hopefully...), so I'll see how that fills that niche first, though. For me, though I like to have a full-size laptop for work over a longer period, it'd be pretty useful to have something smaller that I can carry around more often and use for weekends, day trips, etc.

I took it down to metal with steel wool, then heated the pan a little and smeared Crisco all over the whole thing. I inverted it in the oven (over a sheet pan with aluminum foil, to catch any drips) and cooked it about 250 for 2 hours. I looked at it, realized very little had happened, added a little more Crisco to the bottom of the pan, then cooked it at 350 for 1-1.5 hours.
