Got my car back. Mechanic says rear brakes are fine, front brake noises are nothing to be concerned about (and they're much better than they were before). Spent $75 to repair a hose in the cooling system that was leaking onto the alternator. Tomorrow we will find out whether there are still problems (fingers crossed), and then the quest for 150 can begin anew.
