Oct. 28th, 2008 01:10 amFrankly, it wasn't too bad, from a comfort perspective, until the rain delay started and there was nothing to keep us moving around. I was pretty wet, but at no point was I unpleasantly soaked. The rain mainly emphasized the cold, but it was manageable so long as I was cheering, but once play was stopped and we all huddled under the stands, it was miserable, though that may have been more the shattered expectations than the elements.
Somewhere around the fifth inning, I was no longer able to track the ball. It never really got worse after that, but it was a losing battle against the infield - they couldn't put down the drying sand stuff fast enough or thoroughly enough between innings, and it was taking longer and longer each change to rake the stuff out. Early on, when the rain intensified, they took a shovel or two of dirt from the back of the mound off the field. I suspect that was for the hall of fame, figuring that it'd be total mud by the end of the game, so better to get the scoop in while it was still mostly dirt.

Somewhere I seem to recall seeing that George W. Bush was potentially interested in becoming commissioner of baseball after leaving office. He just might be an improvement over Bud Selig in the way he handles things not going according to plan.
