Odd...

My clock radio just awoke me from a dream which involved spending a night at the old, old house in Haddonfield (Redman Ave) and get-the-hell-out bar in a cavernous dining hall in the Haddonfield Middle School. I know this becuase having worked my way all the way down the hall about to get food, the fire alarm went off, and we all had to go outside. By the time I got back in, there were no carbohydrates left in dining hall. At all. Life in a house where two people are on South Beach isn't that bad. Luckily, I was woken up then, and I didn't have to dream about what I was going to eat, though it probably wouldn't have been too bad.

Also - anyone ever notice a point in dreams where you can control some things happening but not others? I think this tends to happen to me as I wake up, so the further into a dream I get, the more control I have over it. Hmm...

I don't think I've ever had a dream where I could control anything. The closest I've had were at the end of the dreams I become somewhat lucid, and then I can force myself awake (these usually aren't good dreams, so I usually want to), but I was really about to wake up anyway, and I can't control anything else. The thing about my dreams (except for those lucid ones) is that while I'm having them, as far as I'm concerned they're real (I never know that it's a dream, and in fact I've had several dreams where I've proved to myself that it wasn't), so of course I can't control anything external to myself.

My largest amount of control is the choices I make in the dream, when I decide I'll do this or that, and then the wonky dream consequences happen.
