Still haven't been eaten by a bear.
Our suitcases arrived as expected, which is to say four hours after the flight they were on was supposed to arrive and six hours after we did.
Anchorage, or at least the portion that includes our hotel and stretches most of the way to downtown, reminds me a lot of Las Vegas, in that it has very broad arterials surrounded by fairly low-density stuff. The surrounding mountains help.
The extra long days are really weird. It's 10 PM and working on getting dark. For the last several hours, it's been drizzly and overcast, but more like mid-afternoon than evening, in that there was enough light to need street lights or anything. It was great yesterday, when it was sunny, because it made adjusting to the time zone shift relatively easy, but it's really throwing off my internal clock.
Tomorrow: South, to the Kenai peninsula and Seward.
