Jun. 29th, 2004 10:44 pmHowdy folks
Closed on the new place today, habitation will happen in about a month. It's nifty, different. It'll be good. Basically, it's a split level with three bedrooms, kitchen/diningroom/livingroom, massively gigantic family room (think the family room furniture from Gladstone, the ping pong table, and an office desk), and a large garage. Decent yard space, we bought all the large tools from the previous owners, including the riding mower. Whee! Pictures later, I don't feel like dealing with them now. It's a few miles further out of the city than we are now, but it's isn't too bad, assuming traffic isn't an issue it still won't take me long to get to H-field or Swat.
entanglement, a while back
sildra mentioned something about you wanting firefly pictures - I tried tonight, but I'm not sure I got much more than black. They're hard to get pictures of, as, well, there isn't much light. I'll see what I can do.
Mm...Phils game last night. All of a sudden the Phils offense has come to life - playing the Expos may have something to do with it. We were up in the right field seats, Utley's pinch bomb looked like it was coming right towards us for a while. The atmosphere up there was amazing; the Millwood Militia was a few sections right of us and very loud and rowdy, but they calmed down quickly. The rest of our row was filled with nine folks with Pat the Bat (referring to Burrell) on their stomachs. It was loud, it was boisterous, it was fun. Between the militia and pat the bat, we tried starting a wave several times, but couldn't really keep it going. An inning later, they got one going down in the lower deck in the other direction. It was amazing, I think Jason Michaels struck out somewhere in the middle of all that and nobody cared, we kept cheering and doing the wave. It was a whole lot of fun, and I'm going to do it again this summer. Only next time I'm taking the train, paying $5.50 for a day pass sure beats traffic on the Schuylkill both ways (someone was in an accident at the South Street ramp last night after the game, so it was slow from where I got on at 26th up through there - mucho sucko) and parking at 3rd street and walking up, and is cheaper than paying for parking ($10). Plus, it's trains. So I get home a little late, so be it. Never mind that I was more or less worthless at work this morning until lunch, but that may be an effect of not enough sleep for a long time now.
neverseenbleu, I know you want to party all night when you hit 21, but I really need to be in bed by 12, earlier if possible. We'll work something out.
I've now seen a number of fairly unique sporting events in person. David Bell hit for the cycle last night. A few years ago I saw the only triple-double Iverson has ever had in his career. And eons ago at the vet I saw a triple play, started by (I think) Randy Ready catching a line drive, stepping on 2nd, and throwing to first. He probably could have tagged the runner off first to go unassisted, but who cares.
Maybe I'll try something new and go to sleep somewhere around right now. Nah, won't happen :)
