[livejournal.com profile] deathbysnusnu and I have developed a new time keeping scheme. Minutes stay the same length. However, everything else is converted to hexadecimal. There are 16 hours in a day, 90 minutes to an hour.

Right now, it's F59. 15 hours, 89 minutes.

That's right kids, if you were to build a hex-clock, it would confuse the hell out of people. 459, for example, is actually 7:29 AM. 945 is 2:39 PM.

Can you dig it?

No, no, no. We need more hours in a day.

Nonsense. An assignment that should take three hours now only takes two hours using hex time. Hence you don't need more hours in a day.

So this means that the time I spend commenting on your LJ instead of writing my essay is insignificant? I think I could get on board with this.

Incidentally, my friends page ate your post when I tried to reply again.

The time you spend commenting on my LJ takes up a smaller percentage of each hour, yes.

This post was pulling a magical disappearing act for a while, but it appears to be back now.

Brilliant. We can modify ordinary clocks most easily and even add the day of the month! It is beautiful.

Hell yeah.

Beautiful, elegant, functional.

And, best of all, there are still 60 minutes in an hour. It's just 0x60 now.

It might be a bit bad for analog watches, however. But we can solve that by making a watch that has a separate hour ring inside the minute ring, which, given that most already have the hour hand being about half the length of the minute hand, is a rather trivial change in terms of thought processes.
