So Brendan and Sarah and I wanted to play mini-golf. This has been the case for most of the summer. Of course, I was in Indiana for two months, so it probably wasn't going to happen until I got back. And when we/they've wanted to, it almost inevitably rained. Thus we're cursed. So we set off, and we get to the course on Cuthbert at about 10:03, and the guy says they closed at 10. Fine. We go out to the Falls, and they too are closed for golf. Oh well, so we decide to move on to plan B for the evening, IHOP. I miss 295 south. Twice. So I'm going the right way (finally), having almost turned into oncoming traffic at Springdale and Greentree and turning the wrong way on Evesham from Springdale. Eventually we get to the IHOP at the Echelon mall, or at least what was the IHOP at the Echelon mall. Sigh. Without incident, we get to the IHOP at the Cherry Hill Mall, which also is closed. We send Brendan to get the hours. He says he'll only do it...if he's not wearing pants. He takes off his pants and heads for the IHOP. Sarah and I drive off. Brendan gets his pants back on and starts chasing us through the Cherry Hill Mall parking lots for a few minutes before we let him back into the car. We then head for a diner that isn't one of our regulars. At 38, we see the Cherry Hill Coach diner. Brendan says he thinks his father likes the place.

At any rate, we decide on something to do for next summer. We're going to drive all over south jersey rating diners. We'll see if it happens. CHC ranks a D. Food not so hot, service lousy, but it was cheap, and the bakery looked good (saving it from an F). More wrong turns on the way home (NOT MY FAULT!) but in the end, a night of aimless wandering around south jersey and a futile search for mini golf and chocolate chip pancakes.

In other news, Guy Davis and Chris Smither was great sunday night, but I still haven't listened to the Chris Smither album I bought. I also bought the new Grandaddy album today, haven't listened to it all the way through yet, definately a different sound from most of my other stuff (a little more indie fuzz, which I'm not a huge fan of), but so far, so good.
