Looking back at my 6 semesters in the orchestra here and the symphonic works I've played, it's really an amazing collection of music:

S '02: Saint-Saens No. 3 "Organ"
F '02: Sibelius No. 2
S '03: Beethoven No. 7
S '04: Copland Appalachian Spring
F '04: Beethoven No. 9 "Choral"
S '05: Tschaikovsky No. 4

If I had to pick a weak link, it'd be Beethoven 7, and that's not terribly shabby.

You misspelled Tchaikovsky. Nobody spells it that way.

I spell it that way. Barbara spells it without the T, which irks me to no end.

No you don't. "Tsch" isn't a thing that occurs in transliterated Russian (though "shch" does (: ). I think the standard spellings are either "Tchaikovsky" (19th-century transliteration rules) or "Chaikovsky" (or "Chaikovskii"?) (20th-century transliteration rules).

178 people on Google spell it [livejournal.com profile] reldnahkram's way (as opposed to 1.5 million who spell it without the s).
